Seattle BBQ for Bluepoof and WCRM II - Day 2

My plan was to leave Yreka and be on the road by 6 or 7 in the morning. This didn't work out so well, as I was tired and didn't hear my alarm in the morning. By the time I got on the road it was a little bit past 9 am, and it was getting hot. With the vents open in my Aerostich it didn't feel too bad. I stopped by the gas station in Yreka and filled up my tank. Then I continued on I-5 North and I was looking at my GPS as I was approaching the Oregon border. I stopped right before the border, in front of the welcome sign:

As I walked around the bike I noticed something shiny on the rear tire. I looked closer and realized that it was a nail. Damn it! I just put this tire on a week ago! And the one it replaced wasn't worn out yet, but had an unfixable flat! I kicked the tire a couple of times to see if the pressure was still good, and it seemed ok. I decided to leave it alone instead of patching it, and just check it every once in a while to make sure it still has pressure. I got back on the bike and kept going.

I decided to fill up in Eugene, OR. There was a line to the pump, and that's when I remembered that in Oregon you can't fill up your own car (Joisey is like that too, it's a stupid law if you ask me). So I'm waiting behind this Taurus that's getting filled up, and there's a car at a pump in front of it, too. The Taurus was done before the car in front of it, and the woman behind the wheel wanted to get out, so she puts it in reverse and starts backing up. Now, my front wheel is about 2 feet from her bumper. I press my horn so she doesn't run into me. She turns around and looks at me, and then starts backing up again. I'm like, WTF?! I press my horn and just hold it there. She's still backing up until her bumper bumped into my front wheel, and then stopped. I couldn't back up because there was a car behind me. I was really pissed off, but happy she didn't keep backing up after bumping into me. WTF is her problem? Is she fscking blind? I really wanted to get off my bike and kick her side window in, but decided it wasn't worth it. The car in front of her moved, so she was able to drive forward and leave. I filled up (the attendant let me just do everything myself), and left, still pissed off at the stupid Taurus driver.

I went through Portland and over the Columbia river and headed towards Seattle. Since I left Yreka later than expected, I got close to Seattle right in the beginning of rush hour. And you can't lanesplit here! It was hot, and the traffic was barely moving. It sucked. By the time I got to the hotel, all I really wanted was to take a cold shower and go to sleep, but I had a BBQ to go to. I rested a little bit, and went to Safeway to pick up some drinks, some burger patties and buns for them, and then I headed to DantesDame(x)'s house.

Thatman and Captain Obvious were already there, and then DantesDamex and Bluepoof pulled up. More people showed up and we got the grill going and the food cooking.

Here are some pictures:

DDx got more buns than she bargained for:

Uncle Bob brought his rat bike, a turbocharged Ninja 1000:

I was pretty tired, so when others started leaving I headed out too. We agreed to meet back at the house at 7:30 the next morning to go to Enumclaw. I stopped by the gas station on the way back to the hotel, and got a full tank of gas. Got back to the hotel, and decided to write all this up and post it, but discovered that there's no Internet connection! So I guess I'll post this the next time I can connect to the Internet.
